Dear Hitters, Coaches, and Parents,
Imagine a fastball from a 6'3" pitcher standing on a mound to four pitch locations. Make a mental picture of a string from the release point to all four- pitch locations. "The Beast" Bat Speed Machine removes a 31-inch segment from those fastballs and duplicates a swing on that plane. It is roughly a 13-inch swing and an 18-inch follow through. The entire swing is locked on that plane creating a perfect bat head trajectory.
We begin to train the swing at five pounds and increase in five to ten pound increments. At about 30 pounds, since most hitters are using their upper body only, most swings are defeated. At that point, a right-hander begins to learn to nudge the weight forward by communicating with his right hip and rear leg, tapping into his lower body strength. Vice verse for left-handers. We gradually progress to 40 or 50 pounds.
At the end of the workout, 20 - 30 minutes later, we give hitters a 32-ounce wooden bat to swing. It has now become virtually weightless. In a few weeks, hitters will progress to swing 60 to 80 pounds. Six weeks later, their hands will be faster and more powerful from the training. The lower body will now be generating the bat speed. This frees the faster, more powerful hands for tension-free timing and directional duties. The end result is a fast, powerful, mechanically-flawless, trajectory perfect, tension-free swing. A hitter's capacity to take batting practice without experiencing fatigue increases dramatically. It is imperative that all hitters and coaches take advantage of this fact!
