Before Beginning Your Work Out

Before Beginning Your Workout:
View the film of an initial workout session, the diagram of the Levatino Bat Speed Machine with the yardstick positions, and read the handout on the Multiple Functions of the Yardstick.

  1. Align the beginning of the yardstick with the front of the linear bearing so that the yardstick extends 36 inches forward from the start of the swing.
  2. Disengage the clutch, and set the height and angle of the swing.
  3. Remove the pin from the weight stack.
  4. Use the cable clutch to eliminate belt slack.
  5. Overclutch slightly, making the first plate rise above the weight stack 1/4 to 1/2 inch. (You will need to press plate #1 down on plate #2 in order to insert the weight stack pen.) This is called positive spring loaded; it eliminates all belt slack.
  6. Make a mental picture of your right hand and right hip (left hand and left hip for left-handed hitters) coming forward together simultaneously, and delivering the bathead. Hold slight tension upon return.
